Scope of Works

• Inspect site, shed condition and base before starting

• Label and remove roof sheets, flashings and felt for reuse where possible

• Carefully dismantle frame and wall panels, cutting only where necessary

• Wear appropriate PPE and report suspected asbestos or hazardous materials

• Reassemble shed on existing base or new position, realign doors and secure to base

• Supply replacement fixings, felt and carry out minor timber repairs, then tidy site

Most small shed dismantles and reassemblies take 3–6 hours; larger timber or metal sheds or jobs that include re-siting can take 1–2 days. Factors that extend time include rotten structural members, difficult access, needing a new base, suspected asbestos, and poor weather.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you have experience dismantling and reassembling my shed type and size?

• Can you handle relocation to a new position and refixing to a different base?

• How will you deal with suspected asbestos or fibre cement roofing and is a survey needed?

• What exactly is included in the quote (labour, materials, number of operatives, disposal)?

• Do you have public liability insurance and can you provide a copy on request?

• Will reclaimed panels and fixings be stored on site and are there additional charges for storage?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure clear access and at least one parking space for a van near the shed

• Empty the shed of tools and contents before the tradie arrives

• Check base condition and notify the tradie if you plan to move the shed to a new base

• Tell the tradie if roof sheets look like fibre cement or are very old so a survey can be arranged

• Arrange neighbour parking or permissions if scaffold, lifting or street parking is needed

• Keep pets and children away from the work area while dismantling and reassembly takes place
