Scope of Works

• inspect the door and existing lock to identify type and any damage

• remove the old cylinder or mortice lock and clear fixings

• fit new cylinder, mortice or multipoint lock, route faceplate and adjust latch as needed

• align strike plate and adjust the door so it closes and locks smoothly

• test keys and locking operation, dispose of small old parts and provide a brief handover

• are you a registered locksmith or member of a trade body such as the Master Locksmiths Association?

• can you supply and fit the exact lock type i need (cylinder, mortice or multipoint) and show model options?

• will you rekey the existing keys or supply new keys and how many are included?

• do you charge an emergency or out‑of‑hours rate and what is the call‑out fee?

• will fitting affect fire door certification or insurance and can you provide required paperwork?

• what warranty do you offer on labour and parts?

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access to the door and remove obstructions before arrival

• check parking or loading restrictions and notify the tradie of restricted access

• have existing keys, door measurements or photos ready so the tradie can confirm parts beforehand

• tell the tradie about alarms, door closers, or any leasehold/building rules that affect work
