Scope of Works

• Inspect existing front door, lock type (euro cylinder, mortice, multipoint) and strike plate

• supply and fit replacement lock or cylinder compatible with door material and hardware

• make minor adjustments to strike plate, door edge or handle alignment for smooth operation

• rekey or pair new cylinders to existing keys where requested

• test locking function and provide fitment warranty and user guidance

• remove and responsibly dispose of old lock components

Typically 45 minutes–2 hours depending on lock type, door condition and whether door modifications are needed. Factors that extend time include multipoint system work, rotten door frames, bespoke cylinders or after‑hours emergency attendance.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Is this a like‑for‑like replacement or will the door need altering?

• Which standard or certification will the new lock meet (for example BS3621) and do you recommend a specific brand?

• What is included in the price (parts, labour, disposal) and what counts as an extra?

• Do you have public liability insurance and can you show ID on arrival?

• How long is the workmanship warranty and what does it cover?

• If my door needs extra work, will you provide a written estimate before proceeding?

How to Avoid Surprises

• check and tell the tradie the door material (uPVC, composite, timber or metal)

• have proof of ownership or ID ready if rekeying is needed

• reserve close parking for the van and clear the area around the door

• tell the tradie about communal building rules or management company permissions

• expect extra cost for custom cylinders, rotten frames or after‑hours emergency call‑outs
