Key Cutting Guide

Scope of Works

• Identify key type & blank (cylinder, mortice, dimple, security card).

• Cut duplicate on calibrated machine or by code, removing sharp burrs.

• Deburr & lubricate the new blade, test in matching lock.

• Stamp or label keys for easy ID; supply security‑card paperwork if restricted.

• Optional mobile call‑out to cut on site or supply emergency spare.

• Recycle off‑cuts & issue receipt showing key profile and guarantee period.

Time on Site

Typical 5 – 20 minutes per key in‑shop; 30 – 60 minutes for mobile call‑out. Extra time if the original key is worn, a security card needs checking, or multiple copies are ordered.

1. What guarantee do you offer if the duplicate doesn’t work smoothly?

2. Do you use original‑brand blanks or economy compatibles?

3. Will you copy restricted keys and what proof of ownership is required?

4. How is the price set—per key, per batch or by time on site?

5. Can you match the profile if my key is badly worn?

6. Do you keep a digital record of my key code for future copies?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Bring the best‑condition key you have; worn blades lead to poor copies.

• Check ID & security cards for restricted keys before visiting.

• Confirm parking or lift access for mobile locksmiths with heavy machinery.

• Ask for a receipt showing key type and VAT‑inclusive price.

• Test keys immediately in the lock—return at once if they bind or stick.
