Scope of Works

• confirm vehicle make, model and engine to source the correct alternator

• isolate battery and electrical system and remove old alternator

• inspect mounting, belt, pulleys and wiring and replace any damaged ancillary parts

• fit replacement alternator (new or reconditioned) and reconnect electricals

• test charging output, check battery condition and clear any fault codes

• dispose of old alternator and return core where applicable; provide warranty details

Most alternator replacements take 1–3 hours on site; tight engine bays, seized fasteners, additional belt or pulley replacement, or ECU programming can extend work to a full day or require parts ordering

• do you supply a new or reconditioned alternator and what warranty is included

• will you test the battery and charging system before and after the replacement

• are diagnostics, ECU programming or additional parts charged extra and approx cost

• how long will the vehicle be off the road and do you need keys or immobiliser/service codes

• do you provide a written quote, VAT invoice and a parts breakdown

• are you insured and what workmanship guarantee do you offer

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access around the vehicle and reserve nearby parking for the duration of the job

• tell the tradie about alarms, immobilisers or aftermarket systems that may need codes

• confirm whether a new or reconditioned unit is being fitted and keep warranty paperwork

• expect possible extra time/cost for ECU programming or ordering vehicle-specific parts

• secure pets and remove loose items from the work area to keep technicians safe
