Scope of Works

• Diagnose fault codes and test the glow‑plug circuit

• remove engine covers and intake components for access

• isolate the battery and electrical supply before work

• remove and replace faulty glow plugs and new seals, torque to specification

• clear relevant fault codes and perform a test start to confirm fix

• report any additional issues found (seized plugs, thread damage, injector faults)

Typical Cost

Time on Site

Most replacements take 0.5–2 hours on site. Simple 4‑plug jobs with good access are 30–45 minutes; jobs needing intake manifold removal or seized plug extraction can extend to 2–4 hours. Parts availability and additional diagnostics may add time

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you charge a call‑out or a flat diagnostic fee

• will you fit OEM or aftermarket glow plugs and what warranty applies

• how many plugs do you expect to replace and will you test the circuit and relay

• could access require manifold removal or extra labour for seized plugs

• do you include clearing fault codes and a test start in the price

• what warranty do you give on labour and parts and how is a claim handled

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm parking or access at the appointment location

• tell the tradie about previous engine faults, DPF or electrical issues

• check parts availability in advance for less common engines

• make sure the vehicle is cool and keys are available on arrival

• ask if any extra safety measures are needed for leaking fluids or contaminated parts
