Scope of Works

• inspect subframe, mounting points and surrounding components for wear, corrosion and damage

• safely support vehicle, remove wheels and any undertray or heatshield restricting access

• detach subframe fixings as required and lower or remove the subframe to reach suspension bushes

• press out old suspension bushes and press or fit new replacement bushes to correct orientation

• replace any corroded bolts and securements, treat exposed metal and apply recommended torque settings

• re-fit subframe, re-check routing of brake and sensor lines and perform a road test to check handling and noise

Most subframe bush replacements take 3–6 hours on site for a single axle depending on corrosion and access; heavily seized fixings, additional corrosion repair or removing an engine/gearbox can extend the job to a full day or longer

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• have you replaced subframe bushes on my make and model before

• will you use OEM, aftermarket or polyurethane bushes and can I see part details and warranty

• is wheel alignment included and if not what will it cost and when should it be done

• do you have an on-site press or will the subframe be taken to a workshop and does that affect price

• what warranty do you offer on parts and labour and how are follow-up issues handled

• how will you deal with seized bolts, hidden corrosion or if a replacement subframe is needed and what are likely extra costs

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with space to work and confirm access to your drive or garage

• check parts availability before the job and agree who orders/pays for any specific OEM items

• confirm parking or permit requirements for on-street work and where the mechanic will park or unload tools

• clear personal items from the vehicle and tell the tradie about alarms, immobilisers and key locations

• discuss disposal of old parts and any contamination handling for oily or rusted components

• make neighbours aware if loud work or extended on-drive access is needed
