Scope of Works

• carry out diagnostic scan and visual inspection to confirm turbo fault

• remove heatshield, intake and exhaust connections and support turbo assembly

• disconnect and replace oil feed and return lines and drain residual oil

• unbolt and remove old turbo and fit new or reconditioned turbo with new gaskets

• reassemble intake, exhaust and sensors, refill and bleed oil system

• run post-fit diagnostics and road test to check boost, leaks and error codes

• wear PPE and contain oily waste for safe disposal

Most turbo replacements in a workshop take 3–6 hours on the hoist; mobile or complex jobs can stretch to a full day or 1–3 days if parts need ordering or the subframe must be removed. Technician will wear PPE and contain oil to prevent contamination.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you fit new or reconditioned turbos and what warranty applies?

• how many hours labour do you estimate and will you charge a fixed price or hourly?

• are oil lines, gaskets and sensors included in the quote or charged separately?

• will you provide a written diagnostic report and pre/post fit test results?

• do you recommend replacing the intercooler or related hoses at the same time?

How to Avoid Surprises

• check if the workshop needs the vehicle for a full day and book alternative transport

• ensure the car has clean oil and coolant levels to avoid damage during fitting

• tell the trader about previous engine or exhaust work and any warning lights

• ensure good parking or garage access for a recovery van if mobile fitting required

• ask for estimated lead times for parts and whether a reconditioned turbo is acceptable
