Scope of Works

• electronic diagnostic and test drive to confirm clutch fault

• remove gearbox or drivetrain components to access the clutch

• fit new clutch kit (friction plate, pressure plate, release bearing) using agreed parts

• inspect and either resurface or replace the flywheel and report findings

• replace related hydraulic components if leaking (slave/master cylinder) and bleed system

• final adjustment and road test; clear fault codes and check drivability

Typical garage time 3–6 hours for a standard front-wheel-drive car; larger or mid/rear-engine cars can take longer and some jobs stretch to a day or more if the gearbox is hard to remove or parts are on back order.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you use oem, aftermarket, or remanufactured clutch kits and can i choose

• will you resurface or replace the flywheel and how is that charged

• is the quote a fixed price and which conditions could change it

• what warranty do you provide on parts and labour and how long does it last

• will you need to keep the car overnight or arrange collection/towing

• do you charge a diagnostic fee if you then carry out the repair

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm you can park off-street or reserve a bay for the duration

• tell the workshop about known gearbox symptoms or previous repairs

• check parts lead times and whether they’ll order oem parts or use aftermarket

• ask if the workshop needs keys overnight and whether collection or towing is available

• declare any aftermarket immobilisers, modifications, or engine swaps that affect removal
