Scope of Works

• Inspect and diagnose heating fault with OBD scan and manual tests

• test blower motor, fan speeds and resistor pack

• pressure test cooling circuit and inspect heater core, hoses and connections for leaks

• remove and replace agreed parts such as thermostat, blower motor, resistor or heater matrix

• drain and refill coolant, bleed system and carry out a pressure/leak check

• final functional check including cabin heat test, road test if needed and clear diagnostic codes

Most diagnostics and simple repairs take 1–3 hours; replacing a heater matrix or jobs requiring dashboard removal are typically 3–6 hours and may need parts ordering or overnight labour

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you include diagnostics in the quoted price or charge separately

• what warranty do you provide on parts and labour

• will you use OEM or aftermarket parts and can I see options and costs

• do you need access under the dash or to remove panels and will the car need to be left overnight

• how will you handle coolant disposal and contamination, and what PPE will you use

• if further faults are found how will you report costs and get my authorisation

How to Avoid Surprises

• have the car accessible with keys available and remove personal items from the cabin and footwells

• confirm parking or driveway space for the mechanic and any permits for residential streets

• check parts availability before booking if a heater matrix or rare parts may be needed

• ensure battery is charged and tell the tradie about any immobiliser/security codes required

• agree how additional work will be authorised and request a written estimate for anything extra
