Scope of Works

• inspect frame, webbing and springs and record any structural repairs required

• carefully remove existing fabric, fittings and trim for pattern matching or reuse

• repair or reinforce frame joints, replace or re-tie springs and webbing as needed

• replace foam or padding where agreed and fit new upholstery layers

• cut and fit new fabric, match pattern repeat, attach piping/trims and refit legs or fixtures

• clear site, remove upholstery waste and hand back the finished chair with care instructions

Time on Site

On-site re-covering of a single armchair typically takes 3–6 hours; simple recoveries can be 2–3 hours and complex repairs or replacement of foam/springs can extend work to a full day. If the tradie collects items for workshop work, allow additional time for collection and return and typical lead times of 1–3 weeks depending on workload

• do you work on-site or collect items and bring them to your workshop?

• can you provide fabric samples and advise on durability and fire‑safety compliance?

• will you replace foam and springs if needed and how is that charged?

• can you provide a written fixed quote and what is included in that quote?

• what lead time do you expect and how do you handle collection/return logistics?

How to Avoid Surprises

• check access and measure the chair to ensure it fits through doors, staircases and elevators

• confirm parking or loading space for collection and return and any permit needs for flats

• choose and approve fabric before work starts, checking pattern repeat and extra yardage needs

• clear the work area of fragile items and pets and provide a safe, well-lit space for on-site work

• agree payment terms, deposits and written warranty for workmanship and any new materials
