Scope of Works

• Inspect table and chairs to record loose joints, veneer lifts, scratches and missing parts

• Test and strengthen joints using glue, clamps and replacement dowels or tenons where needed

• Clean or strip old finish, repair veneer and fill dents ahead of refinishing

• Sand, stain and apply protective topcoat or oil; match existing colour where requested

• Reupholster seats where required, replace foam or webbing and refit hardware

• Use suitable PPE when applying solvents and finishes and dispose of waste responsibly

Most small restorations (cleaning, minor repairs and a single refinishing) take 4–8 hours on site; larger jobs with reupholstery, extensive veneer repair or multiple coats typically need 1–3 days to allow for drying and return visits. Factors that extend time include hidden damage, bespoke parts, number of finish coats and restricted access

• Do you have examples of similar dining table and chair restorations I can see

• What finish options and turnaround times do you recommend and can you provide a sample on a scrap piece

• Will seats require new foam or fabric and do you do reupholstery in‑house or subcontract

• Do you carry public liability insurance and can you confirm cover for accidental damage onsite

• How do you handle unexpected repairs discovered during work and how will i be charged

• Do you provide a written estimate and a schedule for drying/return visits

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear the work area and remove breakables so tradesperson can work efficiently

• Confirm parking or unloading space close to your door for tools and materials

• Agree a finish sample and sign off before full application to avoid finish mismatches

• Let the tradie know about pets, building rules or flat access restrictions in advance

• Check whether any items need offsite work and confirm pickup/delivery arrangements and costs
