Scope of Works

• Inspect frame, joints and springs and report any repairs required

• strip old fabric, foam and webbing and assess salvageable components

• replace padding and webbing as needed and repair or reinforce frame joints

• cut and fit selected fabric, apply piping/trims and reattach upholstery fittings

• final inspection, tension adjustments, reassemble cushions and tidy site

• use PPE for dust and debris and bag or label contaminated foam if present

Most full reupholstery of a single armchair is completed in a workshop over 3–10 working days; on-site surveys, pick-up and drop-off appointments typically take 1–2 hours. Factors that extend time include fabric lead times, extensive frame or spring repairs, bespoke trims and busy season

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you do a full strip to frame or a partial re-cover and which do you recommend for this chair?

• Can you show examples of recent armchair reupholstery in the same style and fabric?

• What materials will you use (foam density, webbing type, interfacing) and can I choose alternatives?

• Do you include pickup and delivery and are those charges included in the written quote?

• How long will the job take and what might cause extra delays or additional costs?

• What warranty do you offer on workmanship and materials and what is your payment and deposit policy?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear a path and space for collection, delivery and on-site work

• confirm parking and access restrictions with your tradie before the appointment

• agree fabric choice and check samples and lead times before work starts

• point out stains, smoke, pet damage or mould so the quote reflects cleaning or replacement

• get a written quote listing labour, materials, collection/delivery and disposal costs

• advise about pets, carpets and fragile items so the tradie can plan dust control and PPE
