Sofa Configuration Change Costs

Scope of Works

• Initial survey of the sofa model and room access; confirm new layout, measure doorways and lift clearances.

• Careful disassembly of arms, backs, connectors and under‑frame brackets.

• Repositioning / swapping modules (e.g. moving chaise from left to right, inserting or removing centre pieces).

• Fitting new hardware—replacement bolts, universal linking brackets or adjustable feet as required.

• Reassembly & levelling, ensuring seat lines and fabric patterns align.

• Functional check of recliners, storage sections or integrated electrics.

• Light vacuum and wipe‑down of the work area.

Time on Site

• 1–3 hours hands‑on for a standard four‑to‑six‑piece modular sofa.

• Add time if modules need partial re‑upholstery, electrics must be disconnected, or the property has tight stair cores requiring off‑site work.
  

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Have you worked on my sofa brand/model before, and do you carry compatible connectors?

2. Is your quote fixed‑price or hourly after the first hour?

3. Will you supply & guarantee any replacement brackets or feet?

4. How will you protect the fabric during dismantling and transport?

5. Can you remove or store spare modules, and what’s the disposal cost?

6. Do you hold public‑liability insurance for accidental damage?

7. How soon after re‑assembly can the sofa be sat on or moved again?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Reserve a parking space close to the door for the van.

• Pre‑measure doorways, hall turns and lifts—share photos with the trade.

• Clear 1 m working zone around the sofa; remove rugs and breakables.

• Provide the assembly manual if available, or photos of underside fixings.

• Confirm whether your building needs a goods‑lift booking or permit for large furniture moves.
