Scope of Works

• Inspect chair frame, webbing and foam to confirm suitability for a new cover

• remove existing cover carefully and label pattern pieces for accurate replication

• take measurements and create or adjust templates for the new cover

• cut, sew and fit the new fabric, including zips, piping or tie details as specified

• replace or add foam or lining if included in the quote

• clean work area, dispose of small waste and advise on any structural repairs found

Most on-site cover replacements take 1–3 hours per chair; complex shapes or on-site patterning can extend to 3–6 hours. If covers are made in a workshop, allow 3–14 days for return including lead time

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you charge for a site visit or measurement?

• will you supply fabric and foam, or can i provide my own and how will that affect the quote?

• is the price for on-site fitting or for workshop-made covers only?

• do you replace foam or linings and what extra costs apply?

• what is the lead time and are collection/delivery charges included?

• are you insured and can you provide references or photos of similar work?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access and a clean area for fitting

• confirm parking or permit for a trades van if you live on a restricted street

• choose fabric in advance and allow extra for pattern repeats

• tell the tradie about tight staircases, narrow doorways or fragile finishes before booking

• secure pets and cover floors to protect from dust and debris

• agree a written quote that lists materials, labour and any collection/delivery fees
