Scope of Works

• Inspect fabrics (garments, upholstery or carpet) to assess hole size and number

• Identify material and match yarn or patch fabric for colour and texture

• Vacuum and isolate heavily infested items and bag anything contaminated for specialist treatment

• Repair holes by darning, reweaving or applying discrete patches depending on fabric

• Replace small sections of lining or carpet backing and secure edges where required

• Use PPE and contamination controls and advise on pest control if active moths are present

Small garment repairs typically 30–90 minutes; a single upholstery or carpet patch 2–4 hours; large reweaves, multiple items or jobs requiring pest treatment may require additional visits over several days

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Can you match yarn or fabric and supply a sample before repair?

• Do you treat active moth infestation or work with a pest controller?

• Will you repair on-site or need to take items away and is there a collection charge?

• How do you charge — per item, per patch or per hour and do you have a minimum?

• What guarantee do you offer and do you provide before/after photos?

• How long will the repair take and will the fabric need any drying or settling time?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear and label items to be repaired and keep them separate from unaffected laundry

• Confirm whether there is an active infestation before the tradie arrives

• Provide good lighting and easy access to affected areas

• Check parking or loading restrictions if large rugs need collection

• Agree on turnaround time and whether items will be returned or collected

• Keep a fabric sample or a photo of the colour and texture for matching
