Scope of Works

• Inspect sofa at a measuring visit and confirm fabric, trim and finish choices

• strip existing upholstery and assess frame, springs and foam

• carry out agreed frame repairs, replace webbing/springs and renew padding

• cut, fit and stitch the chosen fabric with finished piping or trims and reassemble cushions

• collect and return the sofa (or deliver completed work) and remove old upholstery for disposal if requested

Time on Site

Most tradie time on site is for an initial measuring visit (30–60 minutes) and for pickup and delivery slots (typically 1–3 hours each); the actual reupholstery is done in a workshop and usually takes 1–4 weeks depending on workload and fabric lead times; major frame repairs or complex bespoke trims extend the programme

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you carry out reupholstery in a workshop or on site?

• can you supply a fixed written quote and itemise labour, materials and any extras?

• which fabric grades and brands do you recommend and can I see samples before ordering?

• do you include frame and spring repairs in the quote or charge as extras?

• what lead time should I expect and are pickup/delivery charges included?

• are you insured for accidental damage and can you provide photos or references for similar work?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear a 2m working area around the sofa and protect floors

• agree fabric, colour and backing and sign off samples before work starts

• check parking or loading restrictions for the pickup/delivery vehicle

• tell the tradie about stairs, narrow doorways or access lifts before quoting

• secure pets and remove fragile items from the room before pickup or delivery
