• trim and finish the repaired area and press seams for a neat appearance

• use PPE for soiled or mouldy upholstery and advise if full reupholstery is needed

Most single‑chair seam repairs take 0.5–2 hours on site depending on access and damage; collection for workshop work or sourcing matching fabric can add 1–5 days and hidden frame damage will extend time

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• can you repair the seam on the spot or do you need to take the chair away

• what thread, stitch and finish will you use and how close will the match be to the existing fabric

• how long will the work take and is there a visit charge or minimum fee

• do you offer a guarantee on stitching and any replaced materials

• will repairs affect any existing warranty or finishes on the chair

• will you need access to electricity, a cleared workspace or to move other furniture

How to Avoid Surprises

• measure doorways and stairwells to confirm the chair can be moved if collection is needed

• clear a workspace and remove fragile items before the tradie arrives

• provide photos of the damage and any matching fabric details to speed quoting

• confirm parking or loading access if the tradie needs to collect the chair

• mention pets, heavy soiling or mould in advance so the tradie brings suitable PPE
