Scope of Works

• inspect existing cushions, covers and chair frames to assess foam, springs and any repairs needed

• remove cushions or covers, label pieces and take measurements and templates for cutting

• supply and cut replacement foam and interlining to match original profile or agreed specification

• re-cover cushions with customer-supplied or supplied fabric, including sewing/zip fitting where needed

• refit cushions to chairs and make final adjustments to sit and finish

• take away old foam/covering for disposal if agreed and leave the work area tidy

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you do the re-covering in a workshop or on-site and what is the turnaround

• do you charge a call-out or minimum and is removal/refit included in the price

• can i see fabric/foam samples and do you provide a written estimate showing materials and labour

• what warranty do you offer on workmanship and on supplied materials

• how do you handle contaminated cushions (smoke, pet odour, mould) and do you charge extra for cleaning/disposal

• are you insured and can you provide references or photos of similar jobs

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access and a working area near the chairs so tradesperson can measure and remove pieces safely

• confirm who supplies fabric and foam and provide samples or delivery dates to avoid delays

• check parking or unloading space for collection/delivery and tell tradie about permits or gated estates

• warn tradesperson about pets, smoke or damp cushions so appropriate PPE and cleaning steps are taken

• measure stair widths and doorway clearance if frames are bulky so the tradie can plan collection or on-site work

• agree waste disposal and any extra charges in writing before work starts
