 Scope of Works

• Arrive in a licensed tipper or box van with two‑person crew, PPE and load‑rated ramps.

• Carry out duty‑of‑care check: confirm waste types, weigh/volume estimate, and issue Section 34 waste‑transfer note.

• Segregate and load general, recyclables and hazardous items into the vehicle; protect walk‑routes, use dollies for heavy objects.

• Sweep and tidy the collection area; photograph “after” condition for records.

• Transport waste to an authorised transfer station; pay gate & landfill tax; log recycling percentages.

• Provide digital receipt, recycling report and Environment Agency carrier licence details.

• Typical duration: 1 – 4 hours for a small office, retail back‑store or light builders’ waste.

• Factors that can extend the visit:

  • Multiple floors / long carry distance to vehicle.

  • Bulky or awkward items needing dismantling.

  • Hazardous streams (e.g. fluorescent tubes, paint, WEEE) that require segregation.

  • Limited parking/loading bay access or need to wait for security sign‑in.

  • Heavy traffic if the crew must shuttle between site and transfer station for multiple loads.

1. Are you Environment Agency‑licensed for commercial waste carriage, and will I get a waste‑transfer note?

2. What volume/weight is included in your quoted price and what are the surcharges?

3. How do you handle confidential or hazardous materials (data shredding, COSHH items)?

4. What percentage of the load is recycled and can you provide evidence?

5. Are parking, congestion or ULEZ charges included?

6. What is your insurance cover for accidental damage on‑site or in transit?

7. Can you supply references or case studies from similar commercial clearances?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Reserve a loading bay or on‑street parking for the van; arrange permits if required.

• Provide accurate waste inventory & photos to avoid “over‑volume” surcharges.

• Check building rules for out‑of‑hours working and goods‑lift use.

• Flag hazardous items (batteries, solvents, fridges) in advance so the crew brings correct containers.

• Ensure clear access routes (no blocked corridors, security passes ready).
