Scope of Works

• Inspect mattress to confirm size, condition and whether it needs a sealed bag for contamination

• remove mattress from room, negotiating doorways and flights of stairs as required

• wrap and secure mattress in a protective sack if required and prepare for transport

• load mattress onto vehicle and transport to a licensed recycling or disposal facility

• provide a waste transfer note or receipt on request

• if mattress is contaminated, use gloves and disposable PPE and follow contaminated‑waste handling protocols

Time on Site

Most domestic mattress collections take 20–60 minutes on site for a straightforward ground‑floor or single‑stair carry; narrow access, multiple flights, large or heavy mattresses, tight parking or contamination handling can extend this to 1–2 hours

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do your quotes include disposal/recycling fees or are they extra

• can you provide a waste transfer note or receipt at point of disposal

• do you charge a stairs or long‑carry surcharge and how is it calculated

• will you use sealed bags/PPE for contaminated mattresses and is there an extra charge

• what is your cancellation or rescheduling policy and any minimum notice

• do you need parking details or a loading bay permit ahead of arrival

How to Avoid Surprises

• measure mattress and door widths to confirm it can be removed without dismantling

• clear hallways and stair routes of furniture and obstacles before arrival

• confirm parking arrangements or loading permits so the vehicle can park close by

• declare any contamination (mould, urine, blood) so the collector brings PPE and charges appropriately

• check building or estate rules for bulky‑waste access or restrictions in flats
