Scope of Works

• Inspect and confirm items to remove: bed frame, slats, mattress, divan base

• Dismantle bed frame, headboard and slats where required for access

• Wrap mattresses and soft furnishings in protective covers for transport

• Carry items to vehicle using two-person teams for stairs and heavy lifts

• Take mattresses to licensed recycling or disposal facility and provide proof if requested

• Use PPE and safe handling if items are damp, mouldy or suspected of bedbugs

• Return and reassemble bed at agreed location and check for damage

Time on Site

Most single-bed removals and returns take about 45–90 minutes on site; simple mattress-only collections can be 30–45 minutes. Factors that extend time include multiple items, flights of stairs, narrow doorways requiring extended dismantling, heavy divan bases, and any contamination or bedbug handling requirements

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you include disposal and recycling fees in the quote?

• Can you provide a written estimate and a receipt for disposed items?

• How many operatives will attend and will a two-person team be used for stairs?

• Do you have public liability insurance and can you confirm cover for accidental damage during moves?

• How do you handle suspected bedbug or contaminated mattresses and what are the extra charges?

• What parking or access do you need and do you charge for permits or time spent finding parking?

How to Avoid Surprises

• measure doorways, stair widths and tight corners before the appointment

• clear a continuous access route and remove small obstacles or rugs from the path

• strip beds and remove bedding, pillows and cushions before collection day

• declare any infestations, damp or contamination so the trader can quote accurately

• arrange parking or permits close to the property and tell the trader about loading restrictions
