Scope of Works

• assess waste type and volume and recommend the correct disposal route

• remove domestic bulky items such as furniture and white goods from ground-floor or accessible rooms

• load and remove builder's rubble, soil and general DIY waste and segregate recyclables when possible

• bag and handle smaller hazardous items (batteries, paint) and advise on specialised disposal

• transport waste to a licensed transfer station and provide a waste transfer note for controlled waste

• sweep up and leave the area tidy; heavy or awkward items may need extra manpower or equipment

Most small jobs (single-van loads) take 1–4 hours on site; clearance of a few rooms may be a half day and full-house clearances commonly take 1–3 days. Factors that extend time: narrow access or long stair carries, hazardous material handling, required permits or multiple disposal stops

• are you a registered waste carrier and can you show your licence?

• what exactly is included in the quote and what counts as an extra?

• where will you take the waste and can I have the waste transfer note?

• do you charge for parking, waiting time or stair carries?

• do you have public liability insurance and cover for accidental damage?

• how do you handle hazardous or contaminated waste and what are the extra disposal costs?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear access routes and move fragile or valuable items out of the way

• confirm parking or loading bay availability near the property

• separate hazardous materials and tell the team about them in advance

• measure large items and note narrow doors or staircases

• check landlords or local authority rules about skip or street-lorry permits

• secure pets and keep children away during collection
