Most single mattress and simple frame removals take 20–60 minutes on site; jobs needing dismantling, narrow stair carries or multiple items typically take 1–2 hours. Delays can come from parking, restricted access or needing extra crew

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you licensed to dispose of mattresses and can you provide a waste transfer note?

• do you charge per job or per hour and is the call‑out included?

• will you dismantle the bed frame and repackage fixings or do I need to prepare it?

• are there extra charges for stairs, tight turns or upstairs removal?

• do you have public liability insurance and can you confirm coverage for carry jobs?

• how will you protect floors and furniture and do you use mattress covers for soiled items?

How to Avoid Surprises

• measure doorways, landings and stair widths and tell the tradie if tight

• clear corridors and remove obstacles the day of collection

• reserve parking or provide permit details to avoid loading delays

• disclose mattress condition (mould, pests, heavy soiling) so they bring PPE and correct disposal route

• remove bedding and loose items from mattress before arrival

• check building rules for bulky waste and inform tradie of any access restrictions
