Scope of Works

• Inspect the decorating waste to assess types and volumes (paint tins, wallpaper, plaster, scrap timber, old fixtures)

• remove and bag general rubbish and rubble, separating recyclable materials where practical

• segregate and label hazardous items (part‑used paint, solvents) and prepare them for specialist disposal

• load waste into van or skip and transport to a licenced waste facility, providing disposal receipts on request

• sweep and clear the immediate work area and remove dust sheets to leave the space reasonably tidy

• use appropriate PPE when handling dusty or chemical waste and follow contamination precautions

Most single‑room decorating waste clearances take 1–3 hours on site; larger rooms or whole‑house clearances typically take 4–8 hours or more. Restricted access, flights of stairs, lifts, large volumes of heavy rubble, or hazardous paint requiring specialist handling will extend the time

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you licensed to transport and dispose of hazardous household waste such as paint and solvents

• will I receive a disposal receipt or consignment note for hazardous items

• do you charge by the hour or per load and what is included in the call‑out fee

• how will you handle part‑used paint and solvents and are there extra disposal costs

• do you need parking permits, restricted access information or assistance to carry items through the property

• what PPE and surface protection will you use to avoid contamination or damage to floors

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear a route to the waste and leave access doors unlocked for the crew

• arrange parking or permits for the van in advance to avoid parking fines or delays

• separate and label hazardous items (old paint, thinners) and tell the tradie before they arrive

• point out stairs, lifts, narrow access or fragile floors so the quote accounts for extra handling

• keep pets and children away from work areas during collection and loading

• ask for a disposal receipt if you need proof for a landlord, tenancy end or insurance claim
