• separate cardboard suitable for recycling from contaminated or soiled cardboard

• dispose of waste at licensed transfer station or recycling facility and remove to vehicle

• sweep tidy the immediate work area and remove loose debris

• use PPE and follow contamination handling for soiled waste; provide proof of disposal on request

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you licensed to carry and dispose of household waste and provide a transfer note

• do your prices include VAT and disposal fees or are those charged separately

• how do you charge — per hour, per van load or fixed quote for the job

• will you accept contaminated cardboard, mattresses or hazardous items and how are these charged

• do you provide proof of disposal or a waste transfer note

• are there extra charges for stair carry, narrow access or parking permits

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear an access route and point out tight corners or narrow doors

• reserve parking or inform tradie about restrictions and permit requirements

• separate obvious recyclables and flag contaminated items so they can quote correctly

• inform about heavy or bulky items in advance to allow two‑person teams or a larger vehicle

• secure pets and remove valuables before the team arrives
