Factors that extend time include flights of stairs, narrow access, hazardous items requiring specialist handling, and the need for additional operatives or a skip permit

• do you have public liability insurance and a waste carrier registration number?

• how many operatives and what vehicle will attend?

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear a direct route to the items and note narrow doors or tight corners

• check parking and loading restrictions and book a permit if needed

• set aside hazardous or chemical items and tell the trader in advance

• remove small valuables before the job and secure pets away from the work area

• ask for a waste transfer note and a written estimate before work starts
