Scope of Works

• inspect mattress and confirm size, weight and condition

• protect mattress with a waterproof sack if contaminated

• carry mattress out via stairs, lift or window as agreed using two operatives if needed

• transport to licensed recycling or disposal centre

• provide evidence of disposal where requested such as a waste transfer note

• return and re-install mattress at an agreed time if a return service is booked

Most single mattress removals take 20–60 minutes on site; allow 1–3 hours for multiple mattresses or properties with narrow stairs, long carries or restricted parking

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for removal and public liability for property and people

• can you provide a waste transfer note or disposal receipt

• do you charge per mattress, per load or by time

• are there extra fees for stairs, lifts or long carries

• will you bring the crew and vehicle needed for my mattress size

• how do you handle contaminated or mouldy mattresses and is there an extra charge

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear hallways, lifts and doorways of obstructions

• measure doorways and stairs and tell the tradie about tight corners

• book a parking space or loading bay close to the property

• let the tradie know about pets, security codes or building access rules

• bag or label heavily soiled mattresses and expect extra disposal charges

• ask for proof of disposal and keep the waste transfer note
