Scope of Works

• Inspect and assess rubbish in the shed and immediate garden area

• segregate items for recycling, reuse or disposal (timber, metal, general waste)

• remove bulky items and bag smaller waste, load into van or skip

• dispose of waste at licensed facilities and provide a waste transfer note for commercial customers

• sweep and tidy the shed floor and remove loose debris

• identify and separate light hazardous items (paint tins, oils) and advise on hazardous waste handling

Small shed clear-outs typically take 1–2 hours; larger sheds or jobs requiring sorting, hazardous separation or multiple tip runs can take 3–6 hours or more

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you a registered waste carrier and can you provide your waste carrier registration number

• do you provide a written estimate that includes disposal fees and VAT

• how will you handle hazardous items (paints, oils, asbestos suspicion) and are there extra charges

• what insurance do you carry for damage and public liability and can you show proof

• will you provide a waste transfer note on completion

• do you need any access, parking permits or neighbour permission for skip or van parking

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear a safe access route to the shed and move any cars that might block the van

• tell the tradie about suspected asbestos, chemicals or contaminated items before they arrive

• arrange nearby parking or a skip permit if you expect a large skip on the road

• separate obvious recyclables and hazardous liquids to speed the job and reduce disposal costs

• secure pets and let the team know about gates, padlocks or narrow paths beforehand
