Scope of Works

• confirm vehicle details and eligibility for end-of-life processing (VIN, V5C, keys)

• arrange timed collection or recover non-running vehicles with a tow

• de-pollute on site: drain fuel, oil, coolant and remove battery and tyres wearing PPE

• remove agreed reusable parts for resale or record retained parts and value

• issue Certificate of Destruction (CoD) and handle DVLA notification or provide paperwork

• carry vehicle to licensed recycling facility and complete waste transfer documentation

Most collections with on-site de-pollution take about 1–3 hours; full on-site dismantling or large vehicles may take 3–6 hours. factors that extend time include vehicle location, access restrictions, non-running condition, removal of retained parts and hazardous-waste procedures

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you an authorised treatment facility or do you use a licensed ATF

• will I receive a Certificate of Destruction and will you notify the DVLA

• do you charge for collection and how is towing distance calculated

• how do you handle fluids, batteries and tyres and is hazardous waste removed on site

• will you retain or sell parts from my vehicle and how will any payment be calculated

How to Avoid Surprises

• have the V5C logbook and photo ID to hand

• remove personal items and clearly state if keys are missing or the vehicle is immobilised

• confirm parking or access for the recovery vehicle and advise on any building rules

• check whether there are charges for non-running cars, long-distance recovery or trapped vehicles

• keep pets clear of the work area and tell the operator about site-specific hazards
