Small Item Disposal and Removal Guide

Scope of Works

• Arrive with a licensed waste‑carrier vehicle and protective sheets/bags.

• Sort, lift and load agreed small items (e.g. chairs, boxes, e‑waste, toys, small appliances) from home, loft, shed or kerb.

• Segregate recyclables vs. general waste; photograph load if proof is required.

• Transport to authorised transfer station, recycling centre or charity drop‑off.

• Pay tipping fees and complete a waste‑transfer note for your records.

• Sweep/vacuum pick‑up area, replace moved furniture and check nothing was missed.

Time on Site

• 30 minutes – 2 hours for a typical car‑boot to small‑van load.

• Extra time if items need partial dismantling, are in lofts/basements with limited access, or parking is distant from the door.
  

Questions to Ask Your Trade

1. Are you a registered upper‑tier waste carrier and can I see the licence?

2. Is your quote fixed or will it change if the load is heavier than expected?

3. Which items can’t you take (paint, asbestos, tyres, etc.)?

4. Will you issue a waste‑transfer note or digital receipt showing lawful disposal?

5. How much of the load is recycled or donated versus land‑filled?

6. Are there surcharges for fridges, mattresses or electronics?

7. Do you carry public‑liability insurance in case of property damage?
   

How to Avoid Surprises

• Reserve a parking space close to the entrance and arrange visitor permits if required.

• Pre‑sort items and declare any hazardous waste beforehand.

• Measure bulky pieces to confirm they’ll fit through doors and lifts.

• Check building rules for lift bookings or out‑of‑hours noise restrictions.

• Keep pets and minors clear of the work area, and have payment (card or cash) ready to speed departure.
