• Lift crown where needed to clear paths, sheds or fences

• Use appropriate access equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Chip arisings, clear or remove cut material to a pre-agreed disposal option

• Will you use a ladder, tower or mechanical access and what are the safety measures

• What will you do with the cut material — chip on site, remove, or leave logs

• Do you need permission from the council or my building management (tree preservation order or communal rules)

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure clear access to the tree and move vehicles off the drive if a van needs to park

• Tell neighbours in advance if overhanging limbs may be removed or access over shared land is required

• Confirm parking arrangements and whether a van or trailer can be left nearby

• Check if the tree is subject to a tree preservation order (TPO) or requires council consent

• Move garden furniture, delicate plants and pots away from the work area

• Agree before work starts whether arisings will be chipped on site or taken away and any extra charges
