Scope of Works

• Inspect bed and access, note slopes, existing plants and any buried services

• clear surface debris, dead plants and invasive weeds

• remove turf or excavate to required depth and dispose of arisings

• cultivate or fork over soil and incorporate compost or soil improver where agreed

• install edging or define bed margins if requested

• final rake and tidy, leave site ready for planting and remove all waste

Most single flower bed preparations take 2–6 hours depending on size and ground conditions; heavy clay, roots or poor access can extend this to a full day or more

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• What exactly is included in the price (weeding, edging, soil improver, disposal)?

• Do you recommend or charge for a soil test and any pH adjustments?

• How will arisings be disposed of and are skip or delivery charges included?

• Will you use powered equipment (rotavator) and do you need vehicle or access space?

• Are you insured (public liability) and can you provide references for similar jobs?

• Do you offer any follow-up or guarantee for settling soil or early weed regrowth?

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm access, parking and where vans or deliveries can park

• point out buried services, irrigation lines or cables before work starts

• agree in writing who removes waste and where it will be stacked on site

• protect nearby plants, turf and fences and flag any delicate features

• provide water or external power access if machinery will be used
