Most routine maintenance for a medium suburban garden (100–300 m²) takes 2–4 hours; fortnightly tidy visits are often 1–2 hours. Larger jobs, heavy pruning, tree work or full clearances can take a day or more. weather, access, volume of waste and protected plants commonly extend time on site

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for public liability and employer's liability and can i see certificates

• do you include green waste removal or charge extra for disposal

• which pesticides or fertilisers will you use and are they safe for pets and wildlife

• will you need ladders, scaffold or a tree surgeon and how will that affect timing and cost

• can you provide references or photos of similar work and local examples

• do you offer a guarantee on workmanship or plant health and what does it cover

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear gates, mark fragile paving and move vehicles to allow access

• reserve parking or tell the tradie about parking restrictions

• point out protected trees, nest sites or neighbour boundaries before work starts

• ensure an outdoor tap or water supply is available and tell the team where it is

• secure pets and inform the tradie of any animals that may interfere with work
