Scope of Works

• Inspect beds to identify weeds, desirable plants and any invasive species

• Hand-weed using forks, hoes and hand tools with root removal where possible

• Cut back and remove larger perennial weeds and runners to stop re-growth

• Edge beds and tidy soil surface; rake and level where required

• Apply mulch or weed suppressant fabric if agreed (materials charged extra)

• Collect and dispose of green waste or leave separately for composting if requested

Most garden bed weeding for a typical front or small back bed takes 1–3 hours for a single gardener depending on weed density and root depth. Very overgrown beds, extensive perennial root removal or two-person jobs take 3–6 hours or more

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured for public liability and plant damage?

• Do you hand-weed only or will you use herbicide and which product will you use?

• How will you protect desirable plants and seedlings during weeding?

• What exactly is included in disposal and are green waste costs extra?

• Do you provide an itemised quote and can I see before/after photos on completion?

• Will you need water or electricity access on site and is there a parking requirement?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Clear access routes and mark any delicate plants you want left in place

• Arrange parking or inform tradie of restricted street parking or permits

• Tell the tradie about pets, water taps and where they can leave green waste

• Check communal or estate rules for working hours and disposal restrictions

• Agree beforehand whether herbicides will be used and what PPE/contamination controls are in place
