Scope of Works

• Inspect garden and agree areas to be mown

• Mow lawn to an agreed height using a rotary or cylinder mower

• Strim around edges, flowerbeds, fences and hard surfaces

• Collect and either remove cuttings or mulch them to leave on the lawn

• Sweep patios and paths and clear small debris from the working area

• Identify and report hazards such as holes, uneven ground or broken sprinklers

Typical Cost

Time on Site

Small back gardens typically 30–45 minutes, medium gardens 1–2 hours and large or very overgrown lawns 2–4 hours. Factors that extend time include very long grass, lots of obstacles, restricted access, additional clearing or hedge and edging work.

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured for public liability and for your operatives?

• Do you include disposal of cuttings or is that an extra cost?

• What equipment will you use and do you need mains power or water access?

• How do you handle steep slopes, narrow access or very long grass?

• Can you provide a written estimate and expected start/completion times?

• Will you move lightweight garden furniture and how do you protect flowerbeds?

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure gates and paths are clear for mower access

• Reserve nearby parking or tell the tradie about permit restrictions

• Move toys, plant pots and lightweight furniture out of the way

• Secure pets indoors or in a safe area while work is carried out

• Point out any hidden hazards such as buried cables, sprinkler heads or holes

• Confirm in advance whether cuttings should be removed or left as mulch
