Scope of Works

• inspect rose arch and surrounding bushes to identify dead wood, crossings and disease

• prune rose arch to open centre, reduce height and tie main stems to the structure

• thin and shape shrubs and bushes to improve air flow and encourage flowering

• remove dead, diseased and crossing branches and make clean pruning cuts

• prune any climbers and retie to the arch using new ties where required

• clear and rake arisings, chip larger cuttings and load green waste for disposal

• check for pests or disease and advise on any follow‑up treatments or timing

Time on Site

Typical duration is 1–3 hours for a small garden and 3–6 hours for larger or overgrown areas. Factors that commonly extend time include restricted access or narrow gates, heavy woody stems needing cutting and chipping, nesting birds on the arch, and any requirement for ladders or scaffold.

• are you insured for public liability and for working at height

• will you remove and dispose of green waste or leave it on site

• do you prune to recognised standards and can you explain what cuts you will make

• will you need ladders or scaffold and how will that affect price and access

• can you identify and treat common rose diseases and advise on follow‑up care

• how do you charge — by job or by hour and what is included in the quote

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access to the garden and arch, move vehicles and unlock gates for the crew

• point out fragile features, buried irrigation or lighting near plants before work starts

• check for nesting birds — work may need to be postponed to comply with wildlife law

• reserve parking or give directions if street parking is limited and tools need unloading

• keep pets and children away from the working area and provide a tap for cleaning if possible

• agree disposal method and location for arisings before work begins
