Scope of Works

• clear overgrown beds and remove weeds and self-seeded saplings

• prune shrubs and small trees to improve shape and plant vigour

• trim and tidy hedges and rake up cut material

• mow and edge lawns, remove moss and collect clippings

• remove garden waste and either load into vehicle, transfer to skip or bag for green waste collection

• inspect plants for pests or disease and advise on follow-up plant care or specialist treatment

Most domestic garden clearances take 2–6 hours for a single gardener and a small to medium garden; larger jobs or deep clearances can take a full day or 1–2 days

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for public liability and for transporting garden waste

• how do you charge — hourly, day rate or fixed-price for the whole job

• will you remove green waste from site and what disposal fees apply

• can you deal with mature trees or will you need a tree surgeon or permit

• how will you handle suspected invasive plants (for example Japanese knotweed) or contaminated soil

• do you provide a written quote and before/after photos

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm access, gate widths and any steps or low bridges to where waste must be carried

• reserve parking close to the property or check where the van can safely park

• tell the tradie about underground services, sprinklers or buried paving slabs

• mention pets, water and outdoor power availability or whether a generator is needed

• check for nesting birds or protected plants and be prepared to delay work in the spring if necessary
