Scope of Works

• remove surface and deep-rooted weeds by hand, hoeing and spot herbicide where agreed, using PPE

• clear turf and surface vegetation from areas to be levelled and strip topsoil where required

• break up compacted soil and regrade high and low spots using rakes, rotavator or mini-digger hire as agreed

• add and spread topsoil or sharp sand, level with a rake and compact to the desired profile

• reseed or lay turf where specified and tidy and define edges

• collect arisings and remove green waste to household bins, sacks or a hired skip as instructed, separating invasive species for special disposal

Most small gardens (10–50 m2) take 2–6 hours; medium gardens typically take a full day and large or heavily overgrown areas can be 1–2 days depending on weed density and machine access

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• What exactly will you include in the price (weed removal, topsoil, seed/turf and disposal)?

• Do you recommend manual removal or herbicide for these weeds and will you use chemicals?

• Will you need to hire machinery and is that charged separately or included in the quote?

• How will you dispose of green waste and are skip or sack costs included?

• Do you carry public liability insurance and can you provide references for similar jobs?

• What aftercare do you recommend and who is responsible for follow-up work such as watering or touch-up weeding?

How to Avoid Surprises

• measure and confirm the working area and gate width before the tradie arrives

• clear fragile pots and furniture and mark buried services like irrigation or cables

• agree access and parking for vehicles or machinery and reserve a space if needed

• tell the tradie about drains, boundary issues or invasive plants such as Japanese knotweed

• discuss disposal method and whether you want arisings kept for compost or removed offsite

• ask for a written estimate with start date, expected duration, payment terms and waste-handling details
