Scope of Works

• inspect hedge species, height and boundary lines to plan works

• trim, shape and reduce hedge height using hand tools or mechanical cutters

• remove dead or diseased wood and collect arisings for disposal

• clear vegetation from wall face and foundations and check for root damage

• repair minor masonry: repointing, re-bedding coping stones and resetting loose bricks

• work using PPE (gloves, eye protection); contain any contaminated material and manage nesting birds appropriately

• do you need to inspect for nesting birds or protected species before starting and will you provide a written quote after inspection

• what guarantee do you provide on masonry work and materials used

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm access, gate keys and nearby parking or permit arrangements

• point out shared boundaries, party wall agreements or communal rules before work starts

• tell trades about nesting birds, protected species or known pest infestations early

• clear vehicles from the work area, secure pets and mark buried services before digging

• agree a written estimate that separates labour, materials and any scaffold or skip hire
