Scope of Works

• assess soil condition, sun/shade and drainage to agree planting layout

• mark out beds and planting positions and measure for spacing

• dig and prepare soil, remove weeds and incorporate compost or soil improver

• plant trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs to recommended depth and staking where required

• apply mulch and basic aftercare instructions; label key plants where requested

• tidy site, remove plant packaging and small green waste (larger waste quoted separately)

Typical Cost

Time on Site

Small border or planter refresh: 2–4 hours. Medium beds or multiple areas: half a day to a full day. Larger schemes or tree planting may take 1–2 days. Time is extended by poor access, hard landscaping work, bad weather or waiting for supplied plants to arrive

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you supply the plants and is there any post-planting guarantee?

• what preparation will you do to the soil and do you recommend soil improver or drainage work?

• how many people will be on site and what are your hourly rates or day rates?

• will you remove green waste and how is disposal charged?

• are there extra costs for deliveries, plant staking or protective guards?

• do you carry public liability insurance and can you provide references or photos of similar jobs?

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm access, gate sizes and how close a vehicle can park for deliveries

• tell the tradie about underground services, shared boundaries or protected trees

• agree waste removal in writing and where any skips or bagged waste will be stored

• check whether plants are being supplied and ask for species list and sizes before delivery

• make tradie aware of pets, ponds or hazards and agree PPE/contamination measures if required
