Scope of Works

• Survey the domestic or suburban garden and confirm access, boundaries and any tree preservation orders

• mow, edge and rake lawns and remove arisings or bag for compost

• trim and shape hedges, prune shrubs and remove deadwood from small trees

• clear borders, weeds and unwanted plants and prepare areas for new turf or planting if requested

• repair or replace fencing panels, gates and small hard landscaping items as agreed

• use appropriate PPE and follow safe arboriculture practice for any chainsaw or working-at-height tasks

Time on Site

Most routine maintenance (mowing, hedge trim, weeding) takes 1–4 hours; small landscaping, turfing or more complex clearance can take 1–3 days. Factors that extend time: number of operatives, weather, access constraints, waste removal and any required permits for trees or structures

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Do you have public liability insurance and can you provide a policy reference

• What will you include in the price and what counts as an extra charge

• How will you handle green waste and is skip or haulage included

• Do you need access to water or electricity and can you confirm parking requirements

• Will any tree work require a survey, TPO check or specialist equipment

• Can you provide a written quote with start date, estimated duration and payment schedule

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm safe, level access to the garden and mark any underground services

• check parking availability near the property and tell the tradie about permits or restricted streets

• agree responsibility for waste removal and whether green waste will be composted onsite

• alert neighbours if work will be noisy and confirm start/finish times

• secure pets and remove delicate plants from work areas

• check for protected trees, TPOs or planning constraints before authorising major work
