• trim hedges to the agreed height and shape and remove trimmings

• mow lawn to agreed height, tidy edges and collect arisings

• strim around fences, walls and garden features and clear waste

• remove and dispose of green waste or leave in bags as requested

• blow paths and driveways clear and leave site tidy

Typical small garden: 30–60 minutes; medium garden with several hedges and lawns: 1–3 hours; large or overgrown gardens: 3–6 hours. Factors that extend time include difficult access or parking, very long or wet grass, working at height for tall hedges, multiple operatives required and bird nesting restrictions

• are you insured for public liability and employer's liability?

• do you remove green waste or will you leave it for me?

• how many operatives and which equipment will you use?

• can you confirm price structure: call‑out, hourly rate and disposal?

• do you check for bird nests and avoid disturbance during nesting season?

• will you tidy paths and blow the driveway after work?

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access and reserve a parking space for the van

• mark underground services and remove pots or toys from working areas

• tell the tradie about narrow gates, steps or steep slopes before booking

• confirm whether green waste will be taken away and any extra disposal costs

• secure pets and warn the team about aggressive animals

• check hedges for nesting birds (March–August) to avoid legal issues and delays
