Scope of Works

• cut and shape hedges to the agreed height and line using powered shears and hand tools

• reduce overgrown sections with selective pruning of larger stems and remove deadwood

• remove weeds by hand and with powered tools, and apply contact or systemic treatment for persistent species

• chip, bag or load out arisings and dispose of green waste from site unless otherwise agreed

• check for nesting birds and sensitive planting before starting and use appropriate PPE (gloves, eye protection)

• tidy boundaries, clear debris from paths and leave access routes safe for users

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Are you insured for hedge work and green waste removal and can you show proof?

• What method will you use for persistent weeds and will you use glyphosate or a contact product?

• Do you check for nesting birds and how will work be paused or rescheduled if birds are present?

• Is disposal included in the quote and how will you remove arisings from the property?

• Will you bring a chipper or require vehicle access for collection and how much space is needed?

• Do you provide a written quote and confirm the finished height and boundary responsibilities before starting?

How to Avoid Surprises

• confirm vehicle and parking access for the crew and any chipper or skip

• tell the tradie about nesting birds, beehives, buried services, fences and boundary issues

• agree finished height, line and whether cuttings are removed or left for composting

• confirm whether chemical weed treatment is acceptable given children, pets and neighbours

• clear access inside the property where possible and move cars or garden furniture beforehand
