Scope of Works

• Inspect hedge for nesting birds and overall condition

• trim sides and top to agreed height and shape

• reduce overgrowth and cut back thicker stems where required

• clear and remove cuttings and leaf litter from beds and paths

• hand weed around hedge bases and treat perennial weeds by request

• tidy edges and leave the area broom-clean; chip wood onsite if agreed

• use appropriate PPE and safe ladder or platform work for taller hedges

Typical small to medium garden 1–3 hours; long runs or overgrown hedges 3–6 hours; very large or high hedges may take a day or more Factors that extend time include hedge length and height, density of growth, access limitations, number of weeds to remove, and delays for nesting bird checks

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for public liability and use of ladders

• do you include green waste removal and disposal in the quote

• how will you check and deal with nesting birds or protected species

• will you use herbicide for weeds and what product will you apply

• how many operatives and roughly how long will the job take

• are there any additional charges for difficult access, tall hedges or traffic management

How to Avoid Surprises

• give clear access and point out low-hanging wires, pipes or services

• reserve a parking space close to the work area or tell the tradie about permits

• secure or remove pets and cover delicate plants you want protected

• tell the tradie about nesting birds or scheduled works that might be affected by seasons

• agree where cuttings and chippings will be left and whether you want them removed
