Scope of Works

• Inspect extent of ivy and buddleia and note attachment to walls or trees

• Reduce buddleia to a neat shape and remove spent flowerheads where needed

• Cut back ivy runners and remove sections from masonry or fencing where safe

• Remove cut material and either chip on site or load for disposal

• Check for bird nests and advise on delaying works if nesting birds are present

• Wear gloves and eye protection and clear small debris to leave site tidy

Most domestic jobs take 1–3 hours depending on plant size and access; dense growth on high walls or removing roots can extend the work to a full day

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• How many years' experience do you have trimming ivy and buddleia

• Will you remove roots or just cut back above ground growth

• How will you protect brickwork, gutters and fences during clearance

• Do you carry public liability insurance and can you provide a written quote

• How will you dispose of cuttings and are disposal costs included

• Will you need access equipment or scaffolding and how would that affect price

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure good access and nearby parking or tell the tradie where they can park

• Point out fragile brickwork, trellises or listed features before work starts

• Inform the tradie about nesting birds or other wildlife in the plants

• Agree beforehand whether cuttings are left on site, chipped or taken away and any charges

• Provide an outside tap or battery charging point if possible to speed the job

• Check if neighbours need telling or if access across a shared area is required
