• Mow lawn to the agreed height and pattern

• Edge borders with an edging tool for clean lines

• Strim around paths, fences, trees and other obstacles

• Blow or brush paths and patios clear of cuttings

• Collect and remove grass clippings or mulch back if requested

• Check lawn for moss, compaction and drainage issues and report findings

Most visits take 30 minutes–2 hours for an average suburban lawn; large, overgrown or sloped lawns can take 3–5 hours

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• Ask for proof of public liability insurance and equipment cover

• Ask whether they supply their own mower, edging tools and fuel

• Confirm how cuttings will be handled — taken away, left or mulched back

• Ask about extra charges for long grass, slopes or tight access

• Request references or photos from recent similar jobs

How to Avoid Surprises

• Ensure clear access to the lawn and move garden furniture or vehicles

• Book parking or a dropped kerb if van access is limited

• Tell the tradie about sprinkler heads, buried cables or steep slopes

• Keep pets and children away while work is carried out

• Agree in writing whether cuttings are taken away or left as mulch

• Confirm the tradie will use appropriate PPE and clean equipment between properties
