Scope of Works

• Measure hedge length, height and access points to plan equipment and team size

• trim sides and top of privet using appropriate hedge trimmers and hand shears

• chip cuttings on site where possible and sweep pathways and borders

• remove sections of hedge and grind or dig out stump/rootball if requested as an extra

• load and remove green waste or leave chipped material on site to client agreement

• check for nesting birds and stop work if active nests are found

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• are you insured for public liability and for working at height

• do you check for nesting birds and how will you handle protected wildlife

• is the price per hour or per job and what specific work and disposal is included

• will you chip arisings on site and leave mulch, or remove everything from site

• do you offer stump grinding or full root removal and how is that charged

• what access, parking or skip space do you need from me on the day

How to Avoid Surprises

• clear cars and fragile items from near the work area and make gates accessible

• tell the contractor about narrow paths, low walls or underground services

• decide in advance whether cuttings should be removed or left as mulch to avoid late charges

• check for nesting birds before the job (seasonal issue Mar–Aug) and reschedule if needed

• confirm parking, skip placement and permit needs with the tradie before the day

• secure pets and inform neighbours if noise or vehicle access will be affected
