Scope of Works

• inspect garden and greenhouse, note pest, disease or structural issues

• mow lawns, edge borders, strim hard-to-reach areas

• prune shrubs, cut back climbers and tidy herbaceous perennials

• weed beds, feed soil, add compost or mulch and plant bedding as agreed

• check greenhouse frame, seals and ventilation; replace gaskets or panels if needed

• replace broken glass or damaged glazing panels and reseal where required

• remove green waste and take away broken glass; use PPE when handling glass or chemicals

Most routine garden visits and greenhouse checks take 1–3 hours; small repairs or planting jobs typically take half a day and larger clearances or full greenhouse glazing replacement can take 1–2 days Factors that extend time include difficult access, heavy waste requiring skips, sourcing specialist glass and prolonged wet weather

Questions to Ask Your Tradie

• do you have public liability insurance and can I see proof

• have you worked on greenhouse glazing and what parts will you source

• how do you charge for travel or call-outs and is there a minimum charge

• will you remove green waste and broken glass and include disposal cost

• what PPE and precautions will you take for broken glass or chemicals

• can you provide a written quote and approximate start and finish times

How to Avoid Surprises

• ensure clear access to garden and greenhouse and move cars if needed

• check whether all plants to be kept are marked to avoid accidental removal

• confirm parking arrangements and whether the trader needs a permit

• keep pets secured away from work area

• agree who supplies materials and replacement glass before work starts

• discuss working-at-height needs and whether scaffolding or ladders are required
