Scope of Works

• remove weeds by hand and with fork/trowel, taking roots where possible

• tidy and define bed edges with hand tools

• protect desirable plants and mark bulbs or seedlings to avoid accidental removal

• collect and remove arisings to garden waste bags or a small van uplift

• apply mulch or bark where agreed (materials charged extra)

• spot-treat persistent weeds with garden-approved herbicide if requested and risk-assessed; operator to use PPE

Time on Site

Small beds up to about 5m² typically take 30–60 minutes, medium beds 5–15m² usually take 1–3 hours. Factors that extend time include heavy or deep-rooted weeds, wet or compacted soil, restricted access, and additional tasks such as mulching, edging or multiple repeat visits for persistent weeds

• are you insured for public liability and gardening work?

• how will you identify and protect plants I want to keep?

• do you hand-weed only or do you use herbicide and which product?

• what disposal options and fees do you charge?

• will you leave mulch or soil on-site and is follow-up maintenance included?

How to Avoid Surprises

• give clear access instructions and unlock gates on arrival

• reserve a parking space close to the garden or mention parking charges

• move or secure pets and keep children away from the work area

• point out desirable plants, bulbs and seeded areas before work starts

• agree disposal method and where green waste will be left

• check wet weather policy and whether the job may be rescheduled
